DXF export for laser cutting

I’m designing models for laser cutting thus I’d need to export select faces as DXF. I tried exporting the model as STEP and use FreeCAD for the DXF exports, but it produced some totally weird exports. (STEP import was perfect, but I don’t know why FreeCAD was so unable to produce good DXF exports of quite simple faces.)

Any ideas on how I could achieve this given the current set of features? Or does this necessarily require new functionality.

Sorry for the late response on this, we actually do support DXF exports, you can right-click a sketch in the Feature Tree and select “Export to DXF”:
